Wilber Arnold 'Arnie' Ramsey, age 74, of Merlin, died Monday, March 16, 2009 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Monsignor Gregory Moys officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Arnie was born June 12, 1934 in Redlands, California to Wilber & Goldie Ramsey. From 1954 to 1957 he served in the United States Army. In the 1960’s he worked as a cowboy on an Indian Reservation. For two years he worked at Kaiser Steel in Fontana, California. While living in Costa Mesa, California he worked as a barber. In 1971 he moved from California to Merlin. He worked as a custodian for Three Rivers School District until his retirement. After retirement he drove a school bus and then worked part time as security guard for Dutch Mining, Inc. in Merlin.
He was a member of American Legion Post 28.
His hobbies included gardening and cooking.
Survivors include his mother, Goldie Ramsey, of Grants Pass; a sister, Kathleen Smith and husband, Bill of Grants Pass; three brothers, Earl Ramsey and wife Viona of Fontana, California, Paul Ramsey and wife Karen of Fairfield, California and Thomas Ramsey and wife Judy of Rancho Cucamonga, California; 11 nieces and nephews, 20 grand nieces and nephews, and three great-grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilber Roland Ramsey and his first wife, Abigail (Cote) Ramsey.
