Former Grants Pass resident, Walter Floyd Wade Sr, age 83, of Coos Bay, died September 30, 2021 at Bay Area Hospital.
Walter was born November 20, 1937 in Springfield, Arkansas to Robert & Mae Belle (McCasland) Wade. At age 17 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 30 Dec 1954 to 02 Dec 1958. At age 26 he married Mary Anne (Rose) and together they had daughter Carla Jean Wade. After they divorced, he married Mary Ellen (Chronister) and together they had son Walter Floyd Wade Jr. Walter worked as the Chief of Police in Gold Hill and later drove long-haul truck until his retirement. He moved from Grants Pass to Coos Bay 20 years ago.
His hobbies included boating (and lived in his boat for a time), fishing, and metal work including automotive work with his son. While living in the Arizona desert, Walter loved riding his quad with a milk crate attached to the front where his little dog, “Oggy”, would ride along.
Survivors include daughter Carla Jean Kinyon and husband David of Grants Pass; brothers Donald Earl Wade of Bend and Kenneth Wayne Wade of Grants Pass; grandchildren Aaron, Adam, Faith, Elizabeth “Lizzy”; and great-grandchildren Malachi, Saxton, Kaya, and Mila.
He was preceded in death by his son on August 2, 2018; and his siblings Betty Jo Wade Lee, Nola Frances Wade Gibbs Howell and Robert Doyne Wade.
A graveside service with Pastor Mark Skudstad, officiating; and Navy Military Funeral Honors will be at 1:00 p.m., October 12, 2021 at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
