Terry LaDean Barber went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2025 surrounded by his family. Terry was born on April 17, 1948 in Ontario, OR to Vincent & Imogene Barber. He was raised in Longview, WA and attended Mark Morris high school where he was a wrestler, high diver on the swim team, and a member of the cheer team. He received his B.A. in Geology with a minor in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Washington where he was also on the gymnastics team. Upon completing his degree, he took his first job in Fairbanks, Alaska where he met his wife Barbara at church.
Terry & Barbara were married on December 13, 1975 at First Assembly of God Fairbanks. They later moved to Anchorage, Ak where they raised their three children. Terry worked as a geologist for Dowl Engineers & Alaska Test Lab and later retired after 19 years with the DOT department of the State of Alaska. Upon retirement, Terry and Barbara moved to Grants Pass, OR on July 9, 2010 where they enjoyed 15 years of adventuring around the US and the world. Terry loved spending hours taking photos wherever he went and enjoyed sharing them with others, but more than anything, he loved to talk with others about Jesus.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne and Grumpy Grumbois and his son, Terry Nathan Barber. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Barbara Barber; his brothers Vincent John (Carol) Barber and Darryl Grumbois; his sister, Patricia Ann (Ron) Knowles; and his daughters, Gretchen Marie (Michael) Westwood and Shellee Anne Barber. He also leaves behind two grandsons Justice Nathan Westwood and Micah John Westwood, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, in laws, and friends whom he greatly valued and who will miss the light and love for Jesus Terry brought with him in every circumstance.
