Susan Ann Ausland

Susan Ann Ausland, age 82, of Rogue River, died January 7, 2026 at her home.

Susan was born November 7, 1943 in Astoria, Oregon to Jack & Agnes Dellinger. She was raised near Seaside, Oregon where her family pioneered cranberry farming. In 1961 she graduated from Seaside High School and went on to attend Oregon State University where she was an active member of Sigma Kappa sorority. She graduated OSU with a BS in Elementary Education and MS in Education. In 1966 in Seaside, she married John “Mike” Ausland and moved to Grants Pass. During her working career she taught school at Morningside Elementary School in Salem, Oregon, Garfield Elementary School in Corvallis, Oregon, and Allen Dale Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary Schools in Grants Pass, Oregon before teaching part time throughout District 7.

Susan was an active member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Sigma Kappa sorority, Gideons International, Merlin Community Baptist Church, and formerly First Baptist Church. She volunteered her time as a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church (now River Valley Church) and as a Vacation Bible School teacher at Merlin Community Baptist Church.

She especially enjoyed reading and flower gardening.

Susan is survived by her two sons, Andrew Ausland of Rogue River and Aaron Ausland of Grants Pass; five grandchildren Bryce, Brianne, Kelsey, Morgan, and William; and eight great-grandchildren Jackson, Amber, Kacen, Hayes, Everett, Brooks, Eleanor, and Layla.

She was preceded in death by her husband John (Mike) Ausland , mother, Agnes Prescott (formerly Dellinger), father, John (Jack) Dellinger, and sister, Nancy Sowin.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., January 24, 2026 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
