Samuel James Butler

Samuel James Butler, age 86, of Grants Pass, died Monday July 5, 2010 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Samuel was born May 4, 1924 in Wichita, Kansas. He served in the United States Army and retired as a Los Angeles police officer. In 1981 he moved from Southern California to Grants Pass.

He was an avid camper, comfortable fisherman, reluctant golfer, and a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.

Sam is survived by his children, Clyde, Christopher, and Lisa; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a niece, June.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Dorothy Butler.
