Ronald Joe Vander Meulen, 75, of Waldport, Oregon, passed away peacefully on October 30th after a short battle with an aggressive bone cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones in his last days. Ron was born on November 14th, 1950, in Artesia, California to Joe and Nell Vander Meulen.
He joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam before operating his own construction company for over 30 years. Retiring from that and always needing to tinker, he started restoring hot rods. He loved fixing things, making things work and look better than ever, and loved caring for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Melinda Vander Meulen, his youngest son, Chris Vander Meulen, and three beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gert, his eldest brother Ray, and his eldest son, Peter.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Hull & Hull Funeral Home on November 10th, 2025 at 11a.m., with a gravesite veterans’ ceremony and reception to follow. The family would like to thank the kind staff at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice for their kindness and care.
