Ronald Allen Coombs, age 78, of Grants Pass, died December 15, 2023 at his home.

 

Beth Coombs and family are saddened to announce the passing of their dearly beloved long time Grants Pass resident Ronald Allen Coombs on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Ron was born September 8, 1945 in Rochester, New York and spent his early childhood years there. Ron additionally lived with his parents and two sisters in Whittier, California, Redwood City, California, and San Jose, California.

Ron met his wife of 53 years, Beth Call Coombs, in San Jose, California. They married in Carson City, Nevada on February 12, 1971. Soon after they wed, they moved to Loveland, Colorado where they lived for nine years. In 1980 they moved to Grants Pass, Oregon.

Ron worked in residential construction for many years, building several homes in the Grants Pass area as well as remodeling homes for family and friends. Ron was multi-talented and worked to rebuild salvaged vehicles for family and friends. Ron additionally created and ran two design and manufacturing companies. The first, Startracker, he designed and built trailers specifically to be pulled behind motorcycles. The second company, Fastrac, he designed and manufactured pickup truck racks with exceptional utilization flexibility.

Ron enjoyed riding motorcycles and taught for Team Oregon Motorcycle Safety. He wanted to save the lives of motorcyclists by instructing them on how to ride safely.

Ron also enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hunting, fishing, singing karaoke, and creating projects in his shop.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy May Hauss Coombs and his Father George Hoyt Coombs and is survived by wife Beth, son Rey Erickson and his wife Carol, daughter Renee Cox, sister Suzanne Dalton and her husband Jack, sister Shirl Hansen and her husband Soren. Four granddaughters, six great grandchildren, nine sister-in-law’s, six additional brother-in-law’s, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebartion of life and visitation will be held on December 20, 2023 at 1:00p.m., at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
