Robert J. Hague

July 5, 1945 — October 21, 2022

Robert J. Hague, 77, died of natural causes on October 21 in Grants Pass, OR.

Born in San Bernardino, CA, on July 5, 1945, Bob enlisted in the Navy following his graduation from San Bernardino High School in 1964. A proud military veteran, he served in the Navy and completed his tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Upon returning he married Mary Schwinn in October of 1968.

After his honorable discharge from the armed forces, Bob embarked on a decades-long civil service career in California and Wisconsin, where he specialized in water treatment engineering.

Upon retirement in 2003 from the County of Santa Clara, CA, where he was employed as a mechanical planner estimator, Bob seamlessly transitioned to the life of a gentleman farmer/ranch owner at his rural property in Williams, OR. Always most at home in nature ("You can take the kid out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the kid," he liked to say), upkeep of the sprawling homestead was his labor of love. There, Bob applied the outdoor skills taught to him by beloved mentors and savored the do-it-yourself pleasure of cutting his own meat, tending to his chickens, and riding his antique tractors.

Bob's indoor hobbies included playing cards, dancing and cooking (as a means to an end for another near and dear pursuit: eating!). Blessed with a keen sense of humor, Bob loved a good joke -- and even more so, a good prank that he enjoyed pulling on unsuspecting friends and loved ones.

Known as “Dad, Pops" to his children Ann (Chris), Sarah (John), Bobbi, and Roy (Sisilia), and grandchildren Noal, Megan, Hannah, Emily, Luke, and Zoe, Bob's other surviving relatives include siblings Nancy, James, John, William, and Thomas. Preceded in death by Phillip and Eleanor.

Bob will be greatly missed by his scores of family and friends, who cherish his kind heart and generous spirit.

A memorial service with full Military Funeral Honors will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery 2763 Riley Rd. Eagle Point, OR on November 4th, 2022 starting promptly at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held directly afterwards at Taprock Northwest Grill; 971 SE 6th St, Grants Pass, OR from 3:30-6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans. www.dav.org
