Robert "Bob" Bonaccorso

Robert F. Bonaccorso, a longtime resident of Grants Pass, died peacefully in his sleep on July 23, 2026 after a long illness. Born on April 12, 1937 in New York City, he was the eldest son of James and Mary Bonaccorso and lived during his early years in Eastchester, New York. In his early twenties, Robert enlisted in a Navy Air Cadet program and served as a pilot over both the Atlantic and Pacific. He subsequently enjoyed a long career as a pilot for Delta Airlines.

Robert was known for his strong personality and made friends wherever he went. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Anne Church where he enjoyed the fellowship of other worshipers and all forms of musical celebration. Employees of local grocery stores remember him for his love of good food and friendly greetings. A connoisseur of cars, motorcycles, and scooters, Robert was known as “Scooter Bob” and, as long as he was able, enjoyed riding in the company of his Grants Pass friends. He was a lifelong lover of dogs and met his wife Jane, a recognized breeder of Clumber Spaniels, when he purchased one of her puppies.

Robert was predeceased by his parents and his much-loved wife Jane. He is survived by his brother Richard and sister-in-law Janice, nieces Rachel Bonaccorso Lindsay and Vanessa Carr, their respective husbands Frank and Warren, grandnieces Stella and Daphne Carr, and a number of cousins.

A celebration of Robert’s life took place at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens cemetery in Grants Pass where he and Jane are both interred.
