Paul Mardock Scott III

August 12, 1956 — September 4, 2025

Paul M. Scott III, 69, of Murphy, Oregon, passed away at Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Paul was born in Los Angeles, California, to Paul M. Scott Jr. and Kathryn Scott, who preceded him in death, along with his infant son who passed away in October of 1975.

At 17, Paul met the love of his life, Sherri, who was just 15 at the time. From that moment on, they were inseparable. On October 2, 1975, they married, beginning what would become nearly 50 years of devotion, laughter, and true companionship. Just weeks shy of their 50th anniversary, Paul and Sherri’s love story remained as strong and inspiring as the day it began. Paul adored Sherri—he teased her, made her laugh, sometimes made her shake her head, but he worshipped her with every fiber of his being. Their love was the steady center of his life, and a shining example to everyone who knew them.

Together, Paul and Sherri raised four children: Harmony, Heather, Paul IV, and Jake. As the years went on, the family grew to include 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Each of them knew him as “Grandpa,” and each of them experienced his humor, his knowledge, and the sparkle in his eyes whenever he talked about his family.

Paul was known for his wit and his quick sense of humor. Sarcasm was his love language, and laughter was never far behind when he was around. He could make you laugh until your sides hurt—or roll your eyes with one of his perfectly timed comments. At the same time, he was a walking encyclopedia, always ready with an answer, a story, or a fun fact. You didn’t always ask for the “extra details,” but you got them anyway, because that was Paul. And more often than not, he was right.

Though he loved to make people laugh, Paul’s life was ultimately defined by love and loyalty—to Sherri, to his family, and to his friends. He believed life was about showing up every day for the people who matter, about finding humor even in hard times, and about not taking yourself too seriously.

Paul is survived by his wife, Sherri; his four children, Harmony, Heather, Paul IV, and Jake; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind countless memories, stories, and lessons that his family will carry forward.

A celebration of life was held on September 10, 2025, at a private riverfront property, where more than 70 loved ones gathered to honor him. Services were handled by Hull & Hull Funeral Directors of Grants Pass.

Paul M. Scott III was witty, wise, stubborn, loving, and unforgettable. He was the heart of his family, the one who could make a room laugh, and the man who adored his Sherri from the time he was 17 until his very last breath. His love and laughter will live on in all who knew him.
