Patricia Ann (Weishuhn) Valk passed away peacefully on June 10th, 2025 at home. Pat was born in Astoria, Oregon on December 1st, 1944. Her family moved around some because her father was in the Merchant Marines during World War II, finally settling in Livermore, California. She graduated from Livermore High School in 1963 and went to work as a teller in a local bank. In 1967, her coworker at the bank arranged a blind date with Theodore (Ted) Valk and he picked her up on a motorcycle (much to the surprise of her parents). She was very shy, but went on a double date anyway, with his roommate and his roommate’s girlfriend. Ted and Pat were married August 3rd, 1968 at Saint Augustine Catholic Church in Pleasanton, California, and resided in Livermore where the raised two fine boys and Ted nurtured his career at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for over 35 years.
Following Ted’s retirement in 2001, the relocated back to Oregon in Grants Pass where he built their dream home. After 56 years of a wonderful marriage, Pat succumbed to a stroke and spent her last weeks at home under hospice care.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ted; son Jason Valk and granddaughter Dawn Spence of Kalispell, Montana; son Matthew of Grants Pass; and loving sister Donna Charlin of Littleton, Colorado.
Per family wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service so that her friends and family can remember as she was: a kind, beautiful, and loving person who, without a doubt resides with God and all deceased family members in Heaven.
Please share a memory of Patricia in her Guestbook.
