Oscar “Trey” James Bishop III

February 26, 1986 – June 30, 2025

Oscar James Bishop III passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2025. He was 39 years old and was born in Gulfport, MS.

Oscar was an adventurer from the very start. Brazen, wildly funny, and deeply intelligent. He didn’t just know things, he understood them. He was the kind of person who could take apart a concept, a machine, or a mountain trail and understand its mechanics, purpose, and depth. He approached the world with curiosity and wonder, and he brought others along for the ride.

Oscar felt most at home outdoors, racing and climbing up and down mountains like it was second nature. Nature was his sanctuary where he felt most at home. And if the wilderness was his home, music was his heartbeat. A gifted and passionate musician, Oscar used music as a way to express, escape, and transform the world around him. He was also a dedicated teacher, shaping the lives and minds of sixth graders with insight, humor and heart.

Oscar was the kind of person who left a mark. He traveled the world, formed friendships wherever he went, many of them lifelong, and loved animals, especially, his dogs. He overcame tremendous challenges throughout his life with quiet determination and strength, refusing to let obstacles define him.

With such a big life came and even bigger love and Oscar is survived by his beloved partner and fiancé, Audrey Stange; his mother and stepfather, Susan Copening Yarrow and Wayne Yarrow; his father, Oscar James Bishop II, his sisters, Lindsey Wilbur and Mary Katherine Bishop; his nephew, Alexander Wilbur; his niece, Susanna Wilbur; along with his many friends, and family.

Oscar’s life was big, bold, and unforgettable. His absence leaves a silence we don’t know yet how to live with, but his story, laughter, and beautiful spirit will carry on in every song, every trail, and every memory shared by those who knew him. He was loved fiercely and will be eternally missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 4p.m. in the multi purpose building at Glendale High School.
