Norma E. Frost

Norma E. Frost, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at her home.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Kerbyville Museum or Laurel Cemetery or a charity of choice.

Norma was born April 23, 1921 in Bakersfield, California to Herbert & Ruth (Barnett) Tycer. At age four, she moved with her family to Holland, Oregon where she was raised. She was a graduate of Kerby Union High School, Class of 1938. Norma worked with her mother at the Holland Hotel as a housekeeper. She lived in the house that is now the Kerbyville Museum and once was a boarding house for gold miners. After a proposal on her own back porch, she married Lester Alvin Frost on December 28, 1938 in Grants Pass, Oregon. She was a homemaker and raised four children and all their own food while living in a home where the Deer Creek Vineyards is currently. She also worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Lester A. Frost Logging/Trucking. In 1973 she moved from Selma to Grants Pass.

While her children attended school, Norma was a member of the PTA in Illinois Valley schools.

She especially enjoyed needlepoint.

Survivors include two sons, Leslie R. Frost of Selma, Oregon and Richard L. Frost of Longmont, Colorado; two daughters, Donna G. Smith of Gold Beach, Oregon and Linda L. Richmond of Colfax, Washington; a sister, Faye Dalton of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester A. Frost on December 31, 2004 and three brothers.
