Nicholas James Coulter

Nicholas James Coulter, age 79, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at his home.

Nicholas was born February 19, 1936 in Long Beach, California the only child of Nick & Myrtle Coulter. In 1945 he moved with his family to Grants Pass and in 1955 graduated from Grants Pass High School. From 1956 to 1965 he worked on the waterfront in Long Beach before returning to Grants Pass. For 29 years he was a civil engineer for the United States Forest Service. He was also vice-president of the Forest Service Union. On September 26, 1987 he married his 5th wife Dorinda and together they had children as well.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, shooting guns, riding motorcycles, and loved trips to the ocean.

Survivors include his wife, Dorinda Coulter of Grants Pass, Oregon; seven children, James Coulter of Grants Pass, Oregon, John Coulter of Hillsboro, Oregon, Kelly Coulter Miller of Concord, California, Kathy Green and Eric Maxwell both of Grants Pass, Oregon, David Pruitt of Japan, and Sarah Coulter of Grants Pass, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, Candace, Tim, Julie, Jenni, Joshiah, Rebekah, Claire, Vivian, Genji, Brandy, Kory and Katie and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Wilderville Community Church with Pastor Charles Chase officiating.
