Mona Brown

April 26, 1930 — March 1, 2020

Thelma “Mona” Brown, age 89 of Selma, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020. She was born April 26, 1930 in King Williams Town, South Africa to the late Francois Marx and Dora (MacLachlan) Marx.

While in South Africa, Mona spent most of her life as an accountant first for Van Leer and then for Pilkington Glass Factory. After retiring from Pilkington Glass Factory, Mona worked for Hospice where she compassionately sat with hundreds of people from all walks of life in their final days and hours.

Mona moved to Selma, Oregon in America in 1999 to be with her daughter and son-in-law and to help run their rose farm. She worked as their accountant until she retired a second time in 2016 when Alzheimer’s Disease took away her abilities. She spent her days knitting for her family and could make a sweater in a matter of days. There isn’t a family member that does not have and treasure a Mona sweater.

Mona is survived by her husband of 69 years, John, as well as her three children Bevis, Marilyn and Janet. Mona also lives on in her seven beautiful grandchildren Donovan, Shaun, Timothy, Blayne, Kelly, Beverly and Justin, and her 15 absolutely adorable great-grandchildren.

It was Mona’s wish to be cremated. She will be inurned at Rancho Bianco, the family cemetery located in Taos, New Mexico. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her with so much love during her last days at Grandma’s Lodge in Grants Pass, Oregon.
