Mary Elizabeth Saltis

January 21, 1944 — March 1, 2021

Mary Elizabeth Ott Saltis (01/21/44 - 03/01/21)

Mary was born in 1944 in Palo Alto, California to Wallace & Charlotte Ott. She graduated from Menlo-Atherton high school in 1962 and then attended Pacific Lutheran University. She worked for the retail clerks union and as an insurance agent in Oakland California until 1980 at which time she moved to Southern Oregon where she worked in the health and wellness industry for Shaklee and as a reflexologist.
She was married to Kjell Thorsen in 1964 and gave birth to her only child, Scott Wallace Thorsen in 1968. She remarried in 1986 to George Walter Saltis (Walt). Mary and Walt celebrated 34 years together this year. They are the love of each other’s lives.

Mary enjoyed tennis, golf, and playing the piano, but she especially enjoyed any activity that included her family and friends. She led her life devoted to the lord Jesus Christ, family and friends. She showed compassion and true unconditional love for all. She made time for everyone and would do anything to help a person in need, no matter who the individual was. She was a member of River Valley Church and a past member of Bethany Presbyterian. Mary was actively involved in many organizations including the ROC food pantry, Overeaters Anonymous, and Alcoholics Anonymous just to name a few. Her daily interaction with people and involvement in multiple organizations was a testament to her devotion to the lord and an expression of her big giving heart.

She is survived by her husband Walt Saltis, sister Amrette Butler, brothers Chuck and Doug Ott, son Scott Thorsen, grandsons Kjell, Tristan and Soren Thorsen, and great grandchildren Lucy & Bjorn Thorsen.

In honor of Mary and in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the ROC food pantry, OA, AA, or River Valley Church.
