Mary Elizabeth Bowers

Mary Elizabeth (Tenney) Bowers, 93, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025 in Grants Pass Oregon, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born November 22, 1931 in Michigan to Robert Alva and Esther Pauline Tenney. She married Milford Leroy Bowers on December 28, 1950, and together they raised five children. In 1958, they moved from Adrian, Michigan to Grants Pass, Oregon where they built a life full of love, laughter and faith.

Mary dedicated her life to her family as a domestic engineer, finding joy in caring for her home and people she loved most. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, her dedication to family and the countless memories she created that will continue to live in the hearts of those who loved her.

She was a member of the Walker Mountain Long Rifle Muzzle Loader Club, participated in a bowling league, and was a longtime member of the Merlin Community Baptist Church in Merlin. Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking, and caring for her home and family.

Mary is survived by her children Lyla June Clements of Tooele, Utah; Mark Leroy Bowers of Hansville, Washington; Matt Robert Bowers of Merlin, Oregon; and Milford Leroy Bowers Jr. of Medford, Oregon. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly cherished.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Milford Leroy Bowers; her parents Robert Alva and Esther “Pauline” (Beal) Tenney; her son Wayne Bowers; her sister Dorothy Long; and her brother Floyd Tenney.

A viewing will be held 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m, November 6, 2025 at Hull & Hull Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00a.m., November 7, 2025 at Merlin Community Baptist Church with a committal service to follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her honor.
