Marjorie Ann Artines May 4, 1931 – October 2, 2025

Marjorie Ann Artines, lovingly known as "Mimi" to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Marjorie was a proud alumna of Blessed Sacrament School, where she met her lifelong friend Bill Burch. The two remained close from childhood through their years at Cathedral High School, where Marjorie graduated with grace and ambition.

Answering a call to care for others, Marjorie trained as a nurse at Saint Francis Hospital, where she quickly rose through the ranks thanks to her dedication, skill, and compassionate spirit. Her love of adventure later led her to a career as a flight attendant for Trans Pacific Airlines, allowing her to travel the world and experience life across many cultures.

Marjorie came from a family of strength and talent—her father was a professional baseball player, a legacy that inspired her drive and determination throughout her life.

She married her first husband, George, in Wichita, and together they had one beloved son, also named George. Tragically, both passed away while Marjorie was still living in Kansas, a loss she carried with quiet strength and resilience.

In time, Marjorie found love again with George VanVechten. The two built a warm and beautiful life together in Rogue River, Oregon, where she found joy in simple pleasures—playing cards, bowling, and watching the sunsets with the man she loved.

Marjorie is survived by her devoted husband, George VanVechten; her three brothers, Mark, Bob, and Bill; her stepchildren: Robert VanVechten, Michelle Renee LaFontaine, and Deborah Charlotte Alexander and her cherished grandchildren: Dustin, Ashley, Jessica, Evan, Julia, Billy and Audrey. She has a total of eight great grandchildren.

Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
