Lynn Meyer, age 63, of Grants Pass, died peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Rogue Valley Medical Center with her family at her side following complications from surgery.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2011 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Lynn was born February 5, 1948 in Denver, Colorado to Charles & Katherine Schwieger. On February 1, 1986 in Yucca Valley, California, she married the love of her life, Vern Meyer. While Vern was serving in the United States Marine Corps, Lynn was very patriotic and proud to be married to a Marine officer. Lynn & Vern started raising Paint horses, fulfilling her lifelong dream. In 1990 after Vern retired from the Marine Corps, they moved from Yucca Valley to Grants Pass and continued their love of raising quality horses. For the past 20 years, Lynn was employed by Century 21 J.C. Jones as property manager. During that time she touched the hearts of many people with her kindness and understanding care. She always had a positive can-do attitude in taking care of her owners and renters. It was important for Lynn in all of her endeavors to take care of the needs of others before herself.

She was a member of Josephine County Equine Coalition and American Paint Horse Association.

Lynn enjoyed being outdoors and in the barn with her horses and donkey, Iris. She also loved being surrounded by her dogs and cats and worked with animal charities to save them because she could not bring them all home. Lynn was very creative and artistic.

Survivors include her husband, Vern Meyer of Grants Pass; a sister, Susan Phelps of Windsor, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Parnell and Henrietta Smithson and husband, Tom and several nieces and nephews.

Lynn has gone home to her parents, Charles and Katherine Schwieger.

Lynn’s kind and loving spirit for mankind and for all animals will live in our hearts forever. Lynn will greatly be missed by all.
