Louis Arthur “Bart” Bartholomew, age 75, of O’Brien, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at his home.

A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 29, 2010 at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.
He was born January 1, 1935 in Alameda, California to Arthur & Nina Bartholomew. On February 4, 1955 in Reno, Nevada he married Barbara Gunter. For 16 years he served in the United States Marine Corps and was active in Vietnam for two tours. He then served in the National Guard for 15 years. After retiring from the military, he worked as a correctional sergeant until retiring from there also. In 1991 he moved from Susanville, California to O’Brien.
His hobbies included riding horses, fishing, and camping.
In addition to his wife, Barbara Bartholomew of O’Brien, Oregon; survivors include a daughter, Terrie Winkler of Doyle, California; a son, Robert Bartholomew of O’Brien, Oregon; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a son, Allen Bartholomew in 1973.
