Kurt Edgar Schrimpf

April 28, 1946 — August 25, 2023

Kurt Edgar Schrimpf, born April 28, 1946, in Grants Pass, passed away August 25, 2023.  Pamela, his wife and childhood sweetheart from the age of 13, as well as children Erin, 55 (Elisa), Jennifer, 46 (Ty), and Molly-Anne, 43 (Sean) were also by his side.

Kurt was born in Grants Pass to Neale and Virginia Schrimpf, with younger sister Karen (Eric), and loved everything about his hometown.  He was a Boy Scout, did track and played basketball for the Cavemen, and had a passion for music, poetry and photography.  Like a lot of boys his age he worked in the lumber mills before joining the Army, where he was stationed everywhere from Georgia to Alaska.  Upon returning to Grants Pass after his service he started Green Arrow Landscaping, and worked at Star Concrete, Josephine County Title Company, Home Valley Bank and Morrison Family Properties.  His passion to give back to the community was fulfilled in his time with The Boys and Girls Club (President 1996-1999), First Christian Church, Rogue Valley Association of Realtors, and Rotary International.

Cribbage, chili omelets, morning walks, long family rides, landscaping, golf and listening to The Eagles filled Kurt’s time.  He loved visiting the Oregon Coast, finding new golf courses to play, Victoria, Canada and wanted to return to Sedona for one more trip.  He loved Caveman football, old-time westerns and war movies, model airplanes and war history.  The only thing he loved more was time with his grandkids.  Christiaan, 30 (Megan) became a pilot and shares his love for aviation with Kurt.  Zoe (18), Luisa (15) and Finnigan (12) have spent their childhoods growing up with their grandparents, swimming at their house and watching the Memorial Day flyovers with Pam and Kurt.

Kurt bravely fought two bouts of cancer before he was able to meet the Lord.  His strength and bravery was obvious to everyone, but his humor and quick wit, as well as his caring heart and heartfelt laughter are what he will be remembered for.  In lieu of flowers to the family, please donate to Boys and Girls Club of Josephine County.  A Celebration of Life open house will be held Sunday, September 10th at Grants Pass Golf Club from 1-4pm, casual attire, military honors will begin at 1:30.
