Kevin Leonard Elbert

February 8, 1944 — October 2, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin L Elbert, 81 of Central Point, Oregon, on October 2nd, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Kevin was the eldest son of Leonard and Geraldine Elbert, and one of nine siblings. Kevin was born in San Jose, California on February 8, 1944 but lived most of his life in Southern Oregon. Kevin, a devoted husband and father, is survived by his wife, Janice Elbert and their six children: Lynn Elbert, Sarah Murphy, Tim Elbert, Josh Elbert, Ketura Cynar, and Matt Brockman. Kevin also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Kevin served in the military as a navy corpsman in 1965, earning an honorable discharge for working with the marines to protect and serve the soldiers who fought for our country in Vietnam. Following his military service, Kevin was a strong voice for peace and nonviolence, raising his family with strong values and integrity. Kevin always loved working with plants, even as a child. When his son Tim showed a similar passion and began studying horticulture at Oregon State University, Kevin started Four Seasons Nursery on Crater Lake Avenue, where he became known for the huge, beautiful baskets that hang in the cities of southern Oregon and northern California. Kevin’s baskets can be seen in cities from Ashland to Grants Pass, including Eagle Point and Shady Cove, as well as McCloud and Trinity in California. Kevin was an avid wood carver and was a member of the Central Point Woodcarver’s Club, where he carved in many styles and materials. He loved carving animals the best and leaves behind a collection of incredible work.

Beyond his hobbies, Kevin was known for his generosity and kindness, always lending a helping hand to friends, neighbors, and community members. He had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether tending to his garden or exploring the scenic beauty of Southern Oregon.

Kevin's legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the traditions he instilled in his family, who will forever cherish his memory.
