Kenneth Apland

February 28, 1958 — May 16, 2019

Kenneth Apland, age 61, of Grants Pass, Oregon, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm May 22, 2019 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors with Pastor/friend Robert Jacobs, officiating.

Kenneth (Kenny) was born in Worland Wyoming to Leo and Patricia (Smith) Apland on February 28, 1958. He graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1976. Kenneth married Katherine Dubuque on New Year’s Eve 1989.

He was currently employed by Apland Custom Masonry owned by Jerry and Nikki Apland. He began his brick mason career at age 16. Kenny is famous for his artistic work on the Tap Rock restaurant and the Hellgate River Rock Cafe. You might also know him as MacGyver because he could fix anything with duct tape and whatever he could find under the seat of his truck. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and history. Kenny loved kids; he would make time for the little ones no matter how busy he was. The other day he stopped working in the garage to accept a tea party invitation with the neighbor kids. Uncle Kenny made it a priority to connect with his many nieces and nephews. When he made time to play with them it always included a fun teaching moment. Like the art of knot tying or "let’s build a sling shot together". He would often pay a surprise visit to parents, siblings, friends and nieces & nephews to check in and see if they needed anything. If there was a need or situation, he would own it until problem solved. Kenny and Kathe spent quality time building their home together (“better homes and gardens”). They were supportive of each other’s interests and hobbies. Kenny loved wood working, restoring vintage tools and working with leather. Kenny had a strong faith, a dry sense of humor and a fun positive outlook on life.
