June Sagers Sharp, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Monday, July 31, 2023 at Asante Three Rivers Community Hospital.

 

Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:40 am, Saturday, August 19, 2023 in the Relief Society room at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center at 1969 Williams Highway.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at the Stake Center following the visitation with Bishop Brett Sharp officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.  Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

 

She was born June Sagers on June 26, 1933 in St. John, Utah to Milton and Doris (Bracken) Sagers.  She was the third daughter and sixth child, joining sisters Jessie and Nonie and brothers Bob, Jay, and Chris.  She was raised on the family farm in St. John where she attended grade school.  She graduated from Tooele High School in 1951.

 

On June 26, 1951 she married Weston J. Sharp in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  They made their first home in Vernon, Utah and later moved to the Salt Lake area living in Salt Lake City, Granger, Kearns, and Murray.  She was a stay-at-home mom raising her six children while Weston was a long-haul truck driver.

 

In 1967 they moved from Murray, Utah to Portland, Oregon.  In 1970 they moved to Rogue River, Oregon, and in 1986 they moved to Grants Pass. 

 

In 1971 June and Weston founded Sharp’s Tarps Ltd in the garage of their home.  They moved the business to Grants Pass in 1978 and operated it until their retirement in 1999.

 

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Murphy Creek Ward.  She served as a teacher in all organizations of the church and served as a Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society president.  She particularly loved working with children.

 

June and Weston served as missionaries in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission in 1999-2000.  June later served as a missionary in the Family History Center in Salt Lake City in 2013-2014.

 

June was a great story-teller, enjoyed jokes and laughter and loved being with her family.  She started riding quads at age 58 and loved that time with her family.  She enjoyed travel and reunions with her family. 

 

She lived at Countryside Village, Rogue Valley Retirement Center, and most recently at The Suites in Grants Pass.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Weston, in 2008, her parents and her siblings.

 

She is survived by her children: Shannon (Bob) Fowler of Fruit Heights, Utah; Deanna (Craig) Pratt of Grants Pass; Jeff (Janet) of West Jordan, Utah; Shelley (John) Watkins of Orem, Utah; Monte (Deanne) of Grants Pass; and Brett (Barb) of Grants Pass; 24 grandchildren, and 69 great-grandchildren.
