Jonathan Sindey Wallace

August 3, 2025 — April 27, 2025

Jonathan was born in San Francisco in August 1955, the fourth child to David Elbert Wallace and Norma-Jean Hickey, he was one of five children, three brothers: David Jr., Daniel, Timothy. One sister Mary.

Jonathan’s father was born in Red Springs, Alabama and his mother San Francisco, California.

Jon was a very special man with a big heart and caring spirit. Jon truly was a child of our Heavenly Father. He believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and did his best to live righteously.

He was a simple man who believed in hard work, integrity, honesty, trust, loyalty, personal space and privacy. He was a driven man who was dedicated to his work and his family. Jon treasured his conversations with his siblings and loved reminiscing over our growing-up years. He also loved our family traditions such as recipes (even tweaking new ones until he perfected them), canning, gardening tips, wood-working projects and car mechanics. He loved to maintain his own vehicles and was well known for his beautiful garden.

If you were lucky enough to be his neighbor you were showered with baked goods, vegetables and cut flowers from his huge garden, with friendly conversations over the fence or even visiting you in your home. Jon was comfortable talking one on one with people, though not as much in large gatherings.

Jonathan had such a big heart for God’s creations on earth. He loved the great outdoors and it was hard to get him to come indoors sometimes; wildlife and domestic animals fascinated him. Jon enjoyed hunting also with his father and brothers when he was younger. In older years he fed the birds, wild turkeys, and deer as they seemed to gravitate to him.

Jonathan was very close to his siblings and had a love for family and his family genealogy work by learning his heritage and tracing his ancestor’s lineage.

He loved life to the fullest as he pushed himself to complete a task or project. Later in life he made handcrafted wooden spoons which he shared with family members, close friends and extra special ones for his wife Tamera.

Jon was a strong patriot of the USA who loved our country and flew the flag proudly. He treasured our American Freedoms and the right to bear arms and voted regularly.

Having grown up near the Pacific coastline most of his life he loved watching the waves roll in and out, listening to the roar of the calming ocean waves. He went fishing with his family in lakes, and the ocean accompanied by picnics and sometimes barbeque on the beach. He and his wife Tamera were even married in the San Francisco Bay. They shared a love for lighthouses, adding replicas and sea memorabilia to their home and yard. He even made a well pump enclosure that resembles a lighthouse.

He started out with a variety of jobs working in fast food and restaurants, meat packing, gas station and car mechanics, and produce warehousing. He then went to trade school for Microwave Electronics which led him to a job making radio jammers for the military and a company where he trouble-shot circuit boards. When he moved to the San Juan Islands he worked in construction and house maintenance before retiring to Gold Hill, Oregon.

Jonathan died in Gold Hill, Oregon from heart failure, on 27 April 2025.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandfather William Sidney Wallace, his grandmother Mary Jewel Bozone, grandmother Alma Vera Beckwith, grandfather Norin P. Olstad, grandfather George Edward Hickey, father David Elbert Wallace, mother Norma-Jean Hickey, and oldest brother David Jr.

He is survived by his wife Tamera [née Hutt] Wallace of Gold Hill, OR, two brothers Daniel [Janie] Wallace of CA and Timothy [Donna] Wallace of AL, sister Mary [Daniel] York of Grants Pass, OR, 1st wife Sharon [Ted] Jordon of Lakeside, OR, son Andrew Wallace of Oroville, CA, daughter Stephanie Gomez of Santa Maria, CA and beloved step-son Michael [Carla] Seymour of CA, six grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

Jon had a smile that could melt your soul if you were the lucky ones. Anyone who had the opportunity in meeting and knowing him were touched in different ways.

He is truly missed by all closest to him.
