John Carl Ward, a deeply spiritual and devoted man, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in Medford, Oregon, at Providence Medical Center. He was 76 years old.
Born on October 3, 1949, in Grants Pass, Oregon, John was the beloved son of the late Carl and Mary Ward. He graduated from Grants Pass High School and furthered his education at Rogue Community College, having dedicated a period of study at Mount Angel Seminary.
A true patriot and protector, John served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge. Following his service, he dedicated over 20 years as a Corrections Officer for Josephine County, serving his community with strength and integrity.
John was the kind and strong patriarch of his large family. He and his cherished wife, Susan Marie Ward, built a remarkable legacy that includes their six children: Aaron, Adam, Jacob, John, Levi, and Katie Pollock. John was a source of unwavering love and pride for his 29 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A man of deep faith, John was a dedicated member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. He was passionate about his family, loved spending time reading, and found great peace and enjoyment visiting the ocean.
Service Details
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne's Catholic Church on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
The Rite of Committal and internment will follow the Mass at 2:00 p.m. on the same day at Eagle Point National Cemetery, in Eagle Point, Oregon.
