John McCluskey, 67, of Grants Pass, Oregon, passed away on June 22. He was born on November 11, 1958 in San Jose, California.
As a boy, John dreamed of becoming a soldier and fulfilled that dream by proudly serving in the United States Army. Following his service, he worked as a Disability Advocate for the State of Washington in Spokane. Above all, John was a family man at heart, faithfully gathering everyone around the table for a hearty Sunday night meal accompanied by his favorite albums playing in the background.
John is survived by his daughters, Katherine (Daniel) Hollister, Callie (Zac) McCluskey; sisters, Mauvie (Eddie) Holder, Melissa (Gary) McCluskey; brothers, Bob McCluskey, Matthew (Berenice) McCluskey, Patrick McCluskey; granddaughter Emilia Hollister; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert McCluskey and Silvia Jean Puccinelli.
John leaves a legacy his family will proudly carry forward—one grounded in hard work, determination, and the belief that a better life can be created through perseverance. We will miss him dearly, but we will feel his presence most in the simple joys he cherished: gathering with loved ones, sharing a meal, and playing good music. A celebration of life will be held later this year near Monterey, California. Monterey held a special place in John’s heart from his family ties to the area and the beautiful landscapes within nature he loved.
Please share a memory of John in his Guestbook.
