Janise Lynn Hawkins

Janise Lynn Hawkins, age 71, of Grants Pass, lost her battle with cancer on June 7, 2020 surrounded by her family at home.

Jan was born March 5, 1949 in Ashland, Oregon to William L. & Dorothy Mason. She lived in Southern Oregon her entire life growing up in Phoenix, Oregon and graduated from Phoenix High School in 1967. She also graduated from Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor’s degree. On June 28, 1970 in Medford she married Kenneth B. Hawkins and together they moved to Grants Pass. Jan worked for Pacific Power & Light and later Southern Oregon Head Start.

Jan enjoying golf, camping, attending Caveman games, and traveling. Jan was the quintessential hostess and together with her husband Ken, they welcomed friends and family. Their home was a favorite gathering place where you were greeted with hugs and strains of country music. Jan also enjoyed George Strait concerts. Most of all, Jan loved being Grandma and being in the company of her many friends.

Jan is survived by her husband Ken Hawkins of Grants Pass; two sons Ryan (Abby) Hawkins of Sherwood, Oregon and Scott (Libba Lawrence) Hawkins of West Linn, Oregon; her mother Dorothy Mason of Medford, Oregon; her sister Christine Marshall (William) of Eugene, Oregon; and eight grandchildren Cole, Mason, Will, Cody, Reid, Harper, Boone, and Belle.

She was preceded in death by her father Les Mason.

A celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2020 at Edgewater Christian Fellowship, 101 Assembly Circle, Grants Pass.
