Janice Lynn Elbert

The passing of Janice Elbert, 81 of Central Point, Oregon, on August 2nd of 2026.

Jan was the only daughter of Stanley and Catherine Mooster, and is survived by her twin brother Jon Mooster, and younger brother Terry Mooster. Jan has six children, Lynn Elbert, Sarah Murphy, Tim Elbert, Josh Elbert, Ketura Cynar, and Matt Brockman, as well as 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Jan was a graduate of Crater High School where she met Kevin Elbert. They were married on July 11, 1964 and remained so until his passing on October 2, 2025.

Jan was a devoted catholic through most of her life, raising their six children with strong values and deep faith. Jan was also very vocal about peace, taking strong stands against war and violence. Jan was also a strong feminist, teaching her children to value all humans regardless of race, gender, or beliefs.

Jan dedicated most of her years to providing a safe, comfortable and exciting home, filled with strong traditions and altruistic love. She loved sewing, embroidery and crochet, filling her home with hand made sentiment. She began scrapbooking and created books of memories that she leaves to her children. She shared the love of gardening with her husband and spent many hours in her gardens, cultivating flowers. She rarely went without a fresh bouquet in her home.

Jan’s legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the traditions she instilled in her family, who will forever cherish her memory.

Reunited with her husband in heaven, one can only imagine the gardens they are wandering through, holding hands and laughing together once again.
