James A. Clark ❤️
James A. Clark, known affectionately as Jim or "JoJo" to family and friends, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at Pear Valley Senior Living in Central Point, Oregon. He was 94 years old.
Jim was born on September 3, 1931, in Grants Pass, Oregon, to Marvin W. Clark and Laverna Clark. He spent his childhood in Grants Pass and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1949, where he proudly served as class president. Following graduation, he attended the University of Oregon before returning home to join the family business, Clark's Insurance. Alongside his father, Marvin W. Clark, and his brother, Bob Clark, Jim became a partner in the agency. For 45 years, he faithfully served the community, helping people through difficult times with compassion, integrity, and genuine care.
On October 14, 1951, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Gloria L. Hunt. Together they built a loving family and shared 74 wonderful years of marriage. They were blessed with four children and created a home filled with faith, laughter, and lasting memories.
Jim was deeply involved in his community and church. He was an active participant in 4-H alongside his children, a devoted member of Newman United Methodist Church, a faithful Sunday school teacher, youth director who positively influenced many young lives, and head cook for men's bible study breakfast where he would get up bright and early to get everything prepared. He also served in the Army Reserve.
An avid golfer, Jim was a longtime member of Grants Pass Golf Club, where he celebrated the rare achievement of sinking two holes-in-one. He was passionate about fishing and spent many happy hours on the Rogue and Klamath Rivers and countless Oregon Lakes pursuing steelhead and other prized catches.
Jim enjoyed sharing his many talents and hobbies with family and friends. He was known for cooking delicious steelhead and hearty pancakes, meals that became family favorites. He took great pride in his garden, growing impressive beefsteak tomatoes, beautiful roses, and colorful zinnias that brought joy to all who saw them.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Clark; his children, Jeff (Celia), Lori (Bruce), Bret (LeeAnn), and Christie (Mark); seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Clark, and his sister, Ann Harris.
Jim's life was defined by faith, family, service, and kindness. He will be remembered for his warm smile, generous spirit, unwavering devotion to those he loved, and the countless lives he touched throughout his 94 years. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Please share your memories and comfort on Jim's Tribute Wall at www.since1982hull.com. If you wish, donations may be given in Jim's name to the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many loving and compassionate people who cared for Jim and provided comfort, support, and kindness to Gloria. Special thanks to Pear Valley Senior Living, Riverside Hospice, and the many other caregivers, friends, and supporters whose dedication and compassion meant so much to our family.
