Jack Taylor Hawkins, age 93, of Grants Pass, died March 4, 2024 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

Jack Taylor Hawkins, 93, passed away March 4, 2024 in Grants Pass, Oregon after a lengthy illness. A native of Trenton, North Carolina. Hawkins was the eleventh child of John Clement Hawkins and Julie Elizabeth Taylor. He is survived by his daughter, Catherine Hawkins of San Ramon, California; and son, Timothy Hawkins of Meridian, Idaho; and one grandson, Jeremy Hawkins of Beaverton, Oregon. He shared his children with former wife, Vivian June Rizzo.

   

Hawkins joined the United States Navy where he served as a first engineer for 21 years before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He had a brief second career as an electrician with JD Owen Electric and NASA/Ames Research before becoming a real estate agent in San Jose, California. After retiring from real estate, he relocated to Grants Pass, Oregon with his wife Jessie Dickerson Hawkins who preceded him in death.


He loved playing golf, hunting, watching the San Francisco 49ers play football, and most importantly telling stories about his military adventures. Hawkins traveled extensively throughout the United States with his family and all over the world during his military career.
