Glenn F. Reed

July 13, 1943 — November 26, 2025

Glenn Franklin Reed, 82, of Grants Pass passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Ciela’s House after a stay at RRMC. He was born July 13, 1943 at Josephine General Hospital and lived on A St., D St., in Dryden and then on Redwood Hwy. (now Redwood Ave.) from 5th grade through high school. His family had cows there and he would have milking competitions with his dad who always won. During high school, at GPHS, Glenn joined FFA and got 3rd place his first year with his steer. The next year, he got 1st place with a steer he raised from a baby, with the help from his big brother Bob. When Glenn was growing up he heard Johnny Cash for the first time in 1956. He loved his music from then on and got to see Johnny perform at the Jo. Co. Fair in 1983 and in 1991 at Britt.

In July of 1965 near the old drive-in movie theatre, a car turned in front of Glenn while he was riding his motorcycle. He blacked-out and woke up in Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital. Three surgeries later and with the help of his brother-in-law, Bill Butler, he recovered over the next four months. While in the hospital, a pretty Licensed Practical Nurse caught his eye- Frances Steenson. They dated and got engaged at the old Witham Truck Stop. At Medford First United Methodist Church, they were married on June 29, 1966 and honeymooned in Victoria, British Columbia. James was born in October of 1967 and Kimberly in October of 1969.

Glenn worked at Agnew Plywood and their first home was off RR Hwy. They moved to Sunny Valley for one winter and then moved their mobile home to a park by the old Redwood School. The property at 2610 Redwood Ave. came up for sale and their Marlette mobile home moved again to where it would stay until they built a house there in 1978.

Glenn and Fran took a wonderful trip to Alabama to see Glenn's brother, Bill, and his family, after they were married. Once Jim and Kim arrived, many trips to the coast, Eugene, Crater Lake, Chico, California and a great trip across the country to Wisconsin to visit Fran’s Family in 1977. Stops along the way at Yellowstone, Cody, Wyoming, Mt. Rushmore, Wall Drug and more.

Glenn also worked at Fourply Inc. in Grants Pass and the mill at Glendale under the names of Robert Dollar Co., Gregory Forest Products, and Superior/Swanson Group. Briefly at RV Sash and Door and for the Parks Dept. at Indian Mary Park.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents William and Karsa Reed, brothers Kenneth, Billy and Bob Reed and sister Gloria Butler.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Frances of 59 years, son James Reed, daughter Kim Poole (Michael), grand-daughter Elizabeth Poole Long (Tyler), great-granddaughter, Olivia Long, grandson Matthew Poole - all of Grants Pass. Sister Marcella Tetherow of York, Pennsylvania and sister-in-laws Mary Reed of Medford and Norma Varner Reed of Sylacauga, Alabama and loved nieces and nephews.
