Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Wellington

May 26, 1931 — May 20, 2025

Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Wellington, age 93, of Grants Pass, died May 20, 2025 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

He was born May 26, 1931, in Spokane, Washington to Authur Wellington and Edna (Walters). His parents divorced when he was young and he was raised by his stepfather, Dan Bowton.

Jerry lived an exciting life. He joined the Navy in 1959 with a buddy. He later joined the Air Force and served twenty-four years with an additional six years on reserve. He served in Korea and Vietnam, and because of the specialized work he did he was sent around the world.

After leaving the military, he went to work for several companies, working his way up. Finally, he retired and became a cowboy, something he thoroughly enjoyed. Jerry was associated with the John Wayne Trail Riders in 1987, and past president of the Rattlesnake Ridge Riders in 1988, and served on the Benton County Parks and Recreation Board.

He loved his horse and his dog. Jerry also enjoyed everything with a motor, especially motorcycles, boats, cars and airplanes.

Jerry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Gilbert Creek Ward. He was called to serve in several Bishoprics as Executive Secretary. Jerry and Beverly served a military mission at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He often said that the last twenty-seven years with his spouse, Beverly, were the best of his life.

Jerry and Beverly merged a large family. Survivors include his loving wife Beverly Wellington, his children Pam Thorson, Brenda Scott, Donna Wellington, James Wellington (Janice); stepchildren Ron Guerra (Jeene), Cathy Fogelquist (David), Ken Guerra (Joanna), Vince Guerra (Cindy); sister Bonnie Bowton Rancour; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his infant daughter Peggy Denice Wellington; and siblings Larry Bowton, and Kay (Wellington) Hadley. Their family motto was “he loved her’s and she loves his”. Jerry was loved by ALL!!
