On may 12 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother Gary Lambert passed away peaceful at the age of 72.
Gary was born in Sioux City, Iowa on March 21, 1951 to Earl and Joyce Lambert. He came from a large, close-knit family of eleven children. In 1962 his parents moved their family to Grants Pass, Oregon. Gary attended Grants Pass High School and in 1968 joined the United States Marine Corps. While stationed in Vietnam he worked as a diesel mechanic. After being discharged Gary returned home where he began working at Robert Dollar Mill in Glendale. He also met and married his wife, Jackie Sutton and together they raised their three children, a son and two daughters.
Gary and Jackie moved to the Eugene area in 1998 to be closer to their grandchildren and be a part of their lives. Gary worked at Rosboro Mill in Springfield and later Knife River in Harrisburg.
Gary loves spending time working with wood. He was very proud of his well-stocked shop and had a talent for fixing almost anything. But his real love was camping and spending time outdoors. Anytime they were able to get away Gary and Jackie would take off in their motor home going from one camp ground to another, many times sharing those experiences with their children.
After retiring in 2013 Gary and Jackie moved back to Grants Pass and purchased a fixer upper house which gave him plenty of opportunities to use his tools and problem-solving skills.
Gary was diagnosed with cancer in 2022. He accepted his diagnosis with courage and fortitude, drawing his strength from the support and encouragement of his large family.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his sister Nancy Page; brother Myron Lambert.
Along with his wife Jackie of 52 years, Gary is survived by his son Allen Lambert; daughters Laura Cena (Gino) and Kristine Miller (Dustin) his grandchildren Jeffrey Augustadt (Destiny), Amy Augustadt, Isaiah, Paisley, and Liam Cena, and great granddaughter Alison Augustadt.
A funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on May 19, 2023 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
Interment at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens to follow.
Life is not forever… Love is.
