Elva L. Hinshaw

January 9, 1930 - May 22, 2026 Elva Lou Hinshaw passed away peacefully at 96 in Coos Bay, Oregon. She was deeply loved by family and friends. After the death of her father, she moved from Kansas with her mother Alice and four siblings to Sonoma and Marin counties. Elva graduated from San Rafael high school in 1948 then hiked Yosemite with her best friends. She then went to work for the telephone company. Elva married Warren D. Hinshaw and had four children living in the San Rafael, Marin area in California. After her children's graduations they moved to Grants Pass Oregon in 1977 where they built a home in Hugo. Elva worked as a legal secretary in the courts in Josephine county for 20 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren in1999 and continued to live in their home for many years . She was independent and artistic and enjoyed family gatherings with her children. She took classes in water aerobics and painting for many years. Elva is survived by her children Steven Hinshaw, Rendee Burns, Karen Schuler, and Denise Brown, grandchildren Aaron Mudrich and Montana Burns, and great-grandchildren Cash and Avery Burns. We will miss her sweetness and sense of humor, laughter and love forever. A private service will be held for family.
