Edith Kathleen Miller

March 25, 1937 — January 19, 2024

Edith Kathleen (Smith) Miller was born March 25, 1937 in Muskogee, Oklahoma and died January 19, 2024 at Regency Care of Rogue Valley in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Edith was born in Wagner County, Oklahoma to Ira Lewis and Ruth Smith the youngest of eight children.   She attended schools in Porter, Oklahoma where she graduated in May of 1955.  She married the love of her life, Don, on December 30, 1955.  Don was a senior in high school and Edith was a sophomore when they met.  Don thought she was the prettiest girl in school.  They were married in the pastor’s home in Haskell, Oklahoma.  They then left Oklahoma to live in Arcata, California where their first son Terry was born the following year in December of 1956.   They soon moved to Grants Pass, Oregon where their second son, Dan was born in April of 1959.

In January of 1971, Don and Edith began City Plywood Center.  They both worked hard at their business.  Edith waited on customers and took care of all the bookkeeping.  Edith retired in 1987 and loved her retirement. She and Don would grow a garden of vegetables and share them with friends and family.  They also had apple trees and Edith would make applesauce to share with all her grandkids. She loved her roses and her flowers that she would plant every year.   Edith was a wonderful cook and baker.   Every year she celebrated her children with her cakes. And at Christmas she would make sugar cookies that everyone loved.

Edith and Don have 6 grandchildren.  They love each of them and are proud of each one.  They also have 11 great-grandchildren.  They have loved spending time with each one.

Edith loved her dogs throughout the years and leaves behind Trixie who was very special to her.

Edith was very involved in First Assembly of God Church that was later changed to Parkway Christian Center.   She and Don began attending in 1957 when they moved to Grants Pass.  When the church doors were open, they were there.  She taught Sunday School for years.  She loved the Lord with all her heart.  She and Don were active in Traditions and their weekly Bible study.

Edith is survived by her husband of 68 years, Donald C. Miller; sons Terry (Debbie) Miller and Dan (Paula) Miller all of Grants Pass; grandchildren Sarah (Charles) Greenland, Stephen (Stacey) Miller, Anthony (Anna) Miller, Danielle (Will) Gregg, Jared (Megan) DuLong, and Amanda (Michael) Culton; and great-grandchildren Aidan, Alex, Marchella, Abram, Abigail, Lydia, Benjamin, Addison, Callen, Jordi and Kira.

She was preceded in death by her infant twins, Donita and Juanita; her parents and seven siblings.
