Doralene Marie Murphy

September 25, 1935 — May 12, 2023

Doralene M. Murphy, of Grants Pass/Rogue River passed away at 87 years old on May 12th, 2023 at her home in Rogue River, Oregon. Doralene was born in Los Angeles, California September 25th, 1935. Doralene was the daughter of Grace Howard and Barney Granger. She was the only child. Doralene grew up in California for awhile before moving to Rogue River, Oregon with her parents as a teenager. She graduated high school in 1953 at Rogue River High School. Doralene had also lived in Texas, Nevada and Washington.

Doralene is a Great Great Grandmother and widow. She is survived by her children Ben Houston, Deborah Jackson, Barbara Stiger, Bill and Joe Anderson, and Dora Watson. Doralene also had a daughter; Lynn Saylor who passed away June 13th, 2014. Doralene also raised her two great grandkids; Austin Jackson and Jenica Thomas. She also had two great great grandchildren; Artis and Maliah.

Doralene, also known as "Nanny" was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She gave up her life just so that her great grandkids could have a good life. What a woman to have raised seven kids and also raised her great grandchildren without question.

Doralene enjoyed reading books; mystery and love stories in particular. She loved going on walks; especially with her dog chewy. She also had a cat named Ziggy who she loved and spent time with. Doralene loved to crochet as well. From little baby booties, scarfs, hats, blankets, etc. You name it and she could make it. Doralene enjoyed watching her westerns, the news and wheel of fortune. She also loved to put together puzzles in her free time. One thing Doralene was always known for was being a great cook and baker. She was the happiest when spending time with her family and friends.

Doralene was loved by so many people. She will be so incredibly missed by friends and family. Nanny was a light in so many dark situations for quite a few people. She was the person who held so much together for everyone else. Always opening her home up to anyone, anytime. She had such a funny sense of humor too. If she could crack a joke at any point in time she would. Such a fun, loving, strong, courageous, wise, talented, stubborn and beautiful woman. Even though Doralene has left us earth side, she leaves behind so many memories that loved ones will cherish for the rest of their lives.

A celebration of life for Doralene will be held Sunday, June 4th, 2023 at 2pm at Foots Creek Chapel in Gold Hill.
