Dennis J. Shrode, 83, passed away on April 8, 2025, at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon, following complications from a fall. He was born on December 18, 1941, in Huntington Beach, California, to Wanita Effie Robertson Shrode Lively and was raised by his loving father, "Big John" Shrode, who owned King Avocado Ranch in Vista, California. Though many may not know, Dennis's biological father was Howard Claire Grover (1918-1990).

Dennis is survived by his daughter, Danelle R. Brice, and four sons: John Shrode, Robert Shrode, Jason Shrode, and Martin Shrode. He was preceded in death by his mother, his son Robert, and many dear friends who knew his kind heart.

Dennis was a graduate of Ashland Senior High School and worked most of his life as a radio broadcaster. He was well-known for his charismatic on-air personality, "Byron Jarvis," which featured an old western miner voice that made him a memorable fixture on airwaves. He worked as Program Director for Fox Sports Radio, as well as with Opus Broadcasting, Talk Radio Network, and Lithia Motors, leaving behind a legacy of creative advertising campaigns.

A lover of music and the outdoors, Dennis found joy in writing and playing songs, and he cherished his time fishing. Above all, he was known for his kindness, his easy-going nature, and his genuine care for others. His humor, warmth, and unwavering support made him a friend to many, and his presence always felt like home.

The one thing Dennis wanted everyone to know was simple yet profound: "I love you all. Don’t worry, I’ll be right back after this." – The Deeg

Dennis will be laid to rest at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Josephine County, a place of historical significance, as it is the final resting place of many of the area’s early pioneers and settlers. He will be interred near his mother and his son, Robert, where his legacy will continue to live on.
