Dave "Supe" Huddleston

Dave was born on August 28, 1963 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Marion Anthony (Tony) Huddleston and Carrie Lee Kellhofer Huddleston. He attended Lincoln Elementary, North Junior High, and Grants Pass High School, graduating in 1981.

Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of capacities out of necessity to allow time for his greatest work of coaching, volunteering, and mentoring young athletes. He coached basketball, volleyball, and tennis for GPHS and AAU teams. In addition to coaching, he was an avid spectator to football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and baseball games and to track meets to cheer kids on.

Always active in community sports as an athlete himself, Dave played city league basketball and softball. He also participated in many tennis tournaments around the state.

For a number of years, Dave was the assistant athletic director at GPHS. His favorite part of that job was to greet the athletes and coaches as they arrived at GP. He welcomed teams and showed them around the facilities and situated them in their locker rooms.

Dave’s contribution to local youth sports was recognized in 2013 when he was awarded the Biggie Award sponsored by the KidZone Community Foundation. The Biggie was presented on Mel Ingram Field during halftime of a football game acknowledging Dave’s support of youth sports and fitness in the community.

Dave became an avid golfer. He truly enjoyed playing with a large group of friends.

Dave passed to his eternal home on August 20, 2026 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center after suffering heart failure doing what he loved on the fourth hole of Rogue Valley Country Club.

Dave is survived by sisters Terrie Hudson of Grants Pass, Lyn Skudstad of Crescent City, and Becky Huddleston of La Center, Washington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. It also feels right to remember the many friends that are also surviving and grieving the loss of this remarkable man.

A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 pm, September 26, 2026 at the GPHS Performing Arts Center.
