Grants Pass

Carla Larae Main, 59, passed away on Thursday July 20, 2023 at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland, Oregon with her family by her side.  Carla was born in Ely, Nevada on October 6, 1963, to Carl and Luella Stork.

Carla grew up in Ely, where she attended David E. Norman Elementary School, White Pine Middle School, and graduated from White Pine High School in 1981.  She also attended Great Basin Community College in Elko, Nevada.

Carla joined the United States Air Force in October 1982.   After basic training she studied Healthcare Sciences at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.  Carla worked as a Medical Laboratory Specialist at Wright-Patterson and Luke Air Force Bases.  After Carla’s military career she worked in the medical field from 1984 to 2007.

Carla is survived by her husband Mike Main, daughter Amber Main, granddaughters Brooklyn and Emma Freeman, mother and father-in-law Barbara and Gary Main all of Grants Pass, Oregon; son Christopher Robbins of Indianapolis, Indiana; mother Luella Vigil, sister Tina Rattazzi of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother William Stork, sister Ellen Stark, sister Randi Jones all of Ely, Nevada; brother Robin Stork of Elko, Navada.

She was proceeded in death by her daughter Brittney Diane Main, father Carl Stork, sister Wendy Kjorstad and aunt Elin McIntosh.

Carla devoted her life and love to her family.  She was extremely proud of her children Chris, Brittney and Amber and granddaughters Brooklyn and Emma.  In addition to her immediate family, she enjoyed reconnecting with family and friends.

Carla was extremely kindhearted, nurturing and caring.  Carla always put everyone else first in her life despite her health conditions.  Carla had a great passion for the medical field and loved helping and caring for people until her own health issues limited her ability to work.

Her hobbies included scrapbooking/crafts, bible study, baking cookies, traveling and spending time on the Oregon Coast with family and friends.  Most of all Carla loved to spend time with her granddaughters Brooklyn and Emma.  Family and Friends will miss her wonderful personality, and she will be remembered as a loving, caring person whose life was a blessing to all who knew her.

The family would like to invite all who knew Carla to her Celebration of Life on Saturday August 19th, at 11 a.m. at Edgewater Christian Fellowship Chapel in Grants Pass.
