Caren Marie Elliott

July 17, 1948 — May 22, 2018

Caren Marie Eliott, 69, of Grants Pass died on May 22, 2018 at Highland House with her family present at her last breath. Shortly after retiring, she beat cervical cancer with chemo and radiation, and then 3 years later she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, an aggressive cancer that she could not beat.

She was born on July 17, 1948 in North Bend, Oregon to parents Donald and Kathern Elliott. She had two sisters, Bobbi (Mike) McAlister of Grants Pass, OR and Regina Elliott of Whittier, CA and two brothers, Richard (Rose) Elliott of San Diego, CA and Dan (Ronnie) Walker, of Florence, OR. Caren grew up in North Bend until she was 15 and then the family moved to California. While there she graduated from Alhambra High School in 1966. She briefly lived in Portland, OR and El Paso, Texas before settling back in California where she started her career of 32 years working for the Los Angeles County Fire Department in personnel for the Return to Work office. While working for the fire department, Caren attended the East Los Angeles Community College and earned her Associates Degree.

Caren volunteered in many positions for her nieces and nephews baseball leagues, sewing costumes for various sports and school activities. She joined several quilting groups and created many pieces that she gave out to friends and family members and crocheted mementos for special occasions, Christmas angels and ornaments as well. She joined many crafting classes making greeting cards, sewing projects like purses and jackets, appliques, painting rocks to hide around the different towns she was in, she was just the crafty one who never quit thinking of her next project.

Caren had a bucket list of things that she planned to do after she retired. She dreamed of owning a house with property and found one in Merlin, OR where she had a garden of fruits, veggies and flowers. She went on cruises, sold her creative projects at bazaars, and loved going to garage sales. One of her favorite projects was creating a newly decorated Christmas tree every year and leaving it up long after Christmas to enjoy. She had her precious pets, Louie, Sophie and Lucy that she spoiled and fussed over.

A celebration of life was held at the Sunset Memorial
Cemetery in Coos Bay, Oregon on Tuesday, June 19th
where her parents and grandparents are buried.

Caren,we love and miss you so much,
Bobbi, Reji, Rich and Dan
