Barbara Jean Joy, age 82, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2412 Williams Highway, Grants Pass. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Barbara was born January 24, 1928 in La Grande, Oregon to Edwin & Doris Spencer. She graduated from Girl’s Polytechnic High School in Portland, Oregon. On July 31, 1948 in Portland she married Hiram “Jerry” Joy. From 1947 to 1951 she worked as a store clerk at Weiner’s Clothing Store in Portland. For the rest of her life she was a homemaker. She moved from San Mateo, California to Grants Pass 18 years ago.
Barbara was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses South Grants Pass Congregation.
She was a seamstress and sewed for both herself and her daughter and also enjoyed embroidery.
In addition to her husband, Jerry Joy of Grants Pass, Oregon; she is survived by a daughter, Brenda Argenio of Montevideo, Minnesota; a son, Craig Joy of Chico, California; three brothers, Philip Spencer, Chester Spencer and Ed Spencer all of Portland, Oregon area; and six grandchildren.
