Amanda Genevive Roland

Amanda Genevive Roland, age 72, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Fair View Transitional Health Center.

A memorial service is being held in her honor on November 7, 2009 at Live Oak Grange in Rogue River at 12:00 Noon. This will be a potluck lunch. For more information please call Jan Lakey at 541-660-1956. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Amanda was born November 2, 1936 to Captola and Clifford Higgins in Mulberry, Arkansas. She met and married Tommey Roland on March 31, 1952. Within 48 hours the couple moved to California and ventured their way up to Grants Pass in 1961. Her husband Tommey worked in the Rogue Valley as a general contractor until his death in July 13, 1994.

Amanda enjoyed many things in her life such as fishing, quilting and hanging out with friends. But most of all she loved spending her time with both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Janice Lakey, Sonnia Cowie, Tommy Roland, and Mary Guiles; nine grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
