Albert Joseph "Al" Pule

Albert Joseph "Al" Pule, 99, passed away on September 20, 2026.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, March 13, 1927, Al lived a remarkable life filled with service, family, adventure, and a zest for life.

Al proudly served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. A veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, earning seven Air Medals, including a silver and gold star, as Gunnery Sergeant. His military service was an important part of his life and a source of great pride for his family.

After retiring from the Marine Corps, Al began a second career as a United States letter carrier. He continued working until his final retirement, when he and his beloved wife, Pat, moved to Oregon in 1989. Al loved Oregon dearly and often called it "God's Country."

Al and Pat were married for more than 58 years and shared a life filled with love, family, and memories. They traveled the world together, most notably to Japan on a C-17 military aircraft. Together they raised two children, Andrea and Alan in Garden Grove, CA. Al was also the father of Linda, who preceded him in death, A.J., and Barbara.

He was a proud 'Papa' to nine grandchildren: Mackenzie, Logan, Griffin, Brynn, Sawyer, Nattili, Kyle, Jason, and April.

Al was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a marshal at Dutcher Creek Golf Course for nearly 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, poker, golf, breakfasts with his fellow Vets or church friends, as well as spicy foods, jalapeños, Cholula hot sauce, Cheetos, mangoes, lemons and Pat's famous crunchy chocolate chip cookies. When it came to waffles with strawberries, Al believed there was no such thing as too much whipped cream.

Al's adventurous spirit was especially evident in his love of skydiving. Beginning at age 80, he made jumps every five years at ages 80, 85, 90, and 95. His 95th birthday jump was especially memorable, as three of his grandchildren (Mackenzie, Logan and Griffin) joined him in the sky. He had hoped to celebrate his 100th birthday with one more jump.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Lucy Pule; his five siblings, Frank, Vita, Chester, Nancy, and Carl; his daughter Linda; and his granddaughter April.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Pat; his children, Andrea, Alan, A.J., and Barbara; grandchildren Mackenzie, Logan, Griffin, Brynn, Sawyer, Nattili, Kyle, and Jason; and a family who will carry his memory and adventurous spirit for generations to come.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass, Oregon, with viewing beginning at 8:15 a.m. A light reception will follow in the church hall. After the reception, the family will proceed to Eagle Point National Cemetery, where Al will be laid to rest, 1:00 p.m. All who loved Al are welcome.

At night, after his prayers, he would say to his wife, "Thank you for everything you do. I love you. See you in the morning." Her response, "God willing." So Daddy, thank you for everything. We'll see you again, God willing.
