William "Bill" Evert

September 15, 1941 — December 17, 2018

William “Bill” Evert, age 77, of Grants Pass, died December 17, 2018 at his home.



Bill was born September 15, 1941 in Madison, Wisconsin. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. He received his honorable discharge and moved to Columbus, Ohio where he started a construction company. His work took him to Dallas, Texas where he met his current wife, Alyce. His entrepreneurial spirit continued in Dallas where he began investing in real estate and co-sponsored motorcycle racing through BMW of Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to California for three years then to Grants Pass in 1992. The Northwest became his “home.”



Soon after moving to Grants Pass, he retired yet continued to stay busy with his many hobbies including wood working, wine making, and gardening. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Green Bay Packers and Portland Timbers and volunteering with Hidden Valley boys’ soccer and Rogue Gardening.



Bill came from humble beginnings in Wisconsin and worked hard to provide a quality life for his wife and only son. He leaves a legacy of being an honest, principled, and friendly person. Touching many lives via his willingness to have a conversation with anyone and his generosity of spirit.



Bill is survived by his wife, Alyce Evert of Grants Pass; his son, Remington Evert of Portland; and a brother-in-law, Charlie.
