William Ashley Gandy, age 96, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
William was born October 30, 1915 in Comanche, Texas to James & Lula Gandy. He married Shirley Waycott and they later divorced. He later married Nancy Carter and they also divorced. William worked as a railroad engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad for 39 years until his retirement in 1975.
William was a member of the Grants Pass B.P.O. Elks #1584 and served for a time as Exalted Ruler and was also a member of the Grants Pass Masonic Lodge AF & AM for many years.
William was an accomplished guitarist and singer and enjoyed playing keyboards, the fiddle and the harmonica.
Survivors include three children, Harry Gandy of Roseburg, Oregon, Carol Gandy of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Cathy Loren of Ridgecrest, California; three grandsons, Evan Gandy, Scott Gandy, and Marine Corps PFC Mark Loren.
He was preceded in death by nine siblings.
