Weston J. Sharp, age 75, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Arbor House of causes incident to age.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2008 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, Relief Society Room.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2008 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center with Bishop Monte J. Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to LDS Philanthropies, 15 E South Temple JSMB No. 2E, Salt Lake City, Utah 84150 (with “Perpetual Education Fund” in the memo portion of the check).

He was born Weston John Sharp March 2, 1933 in Tooele, Utah to Lawrence & Joyce (Cassity) Sharp. He was raised in Vernon, Tooele County, Utah on a small cattle ranch. On June 26, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple he married June Sagers and they had six children. For over 20 years he was a long haul truck driver. In 1967 he moved from Salt Lake City to Portland and in 1970 moved to the Grants Pass area. In 1971 he founded Sharps Tarps in Grants Pass and operated it until his retirement in 1999.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Riverside Ward. He served in many Church capacities, including Bishop of the Grants Pass Ward, Patriarch of the Grants Pass Stake, missionary with his wife in the Arkansas, Little Rock Mission.

His hobbies included camping, boating, snow skiing, paintballing, and ATV riding at the Oregon Sand Dunes.

Weston is survived by his wife, June Sharp of Grants Pass; six children, Shannon Pitchforth of Bountiful, Utah, Deanna Pratt of Grants Pass, Jeff Sharp of West Jordan, Utah, Shelley Watkins of Orem, Utah, and Monte Sharp and Brett Sharp both of Grants Pass; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren all of Oregon and Utah; a brother, Dale Sharp of Kearns, Utah; and a sister, Marcia Hepner of Murray, Utah.
