Wayne Robert "Mac" Mcmillen

Wayne Robert “Mac” McMillen, age 89, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Private interment was held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Mac was born November 11, 1920 in Ottawa, Kansas to J.C. & Blanch McMillen. In 1938 he graduated from Garnett High School. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he joined the United States Navy and served in both European and Pacific Theatres. In 1942 while he was on leave, he married Wilda Jean Telfer, also a Kansas native. After World War II, Mac settled in Wichita, Kansas. In 1952 he answered God’s call to the ministry and moved to Southern California to attend the Bible Institute of L.A. (currently Biola University). Upon graduation in 1955 he moved to Grants Pass to pastor Jerome Prairie Community Church. He also drove a school bus for Jerome Prairie Elementary School. In 1968 Pastor Mac moved to San Jose, but returned to Grants Pass to retire in 1985. During his retirement he pastored at Table Rock Community Church.

Mac was a past member of Independent Fundamental Churches of America (IFCA).

Mac loved Major League Baseball (Oakland A’s), was an avid steelhead fisherman, and enjoyed reading his Bible.

Survivors include his wife, Wilda Jean McMillen of Grants Pass; a son, James McMillen of Snohomish, Washington; and one grandchild, Kristina McMillen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Howard McMillen and Bill McMillen.
