Wayne Maitrejean

December 30, 1947 — May 4, 2014

Wayne was born to Clement and Betty Maitrejean where they raised him with his two brothers, Ron and Martin, in Costa Mesa, California. He graduated from Corona Del Mar High School and went to Orange Coast College to complete his Associates Degree. Wayne fell in love and married Josephine Durocher in 1970 and they had four children. He was an electrical engineer for over 20 years and his work took him to locations as far and exotic as Bahrain and Tunisia. After a long battle with cancer, Josephine passed away on September 4, 1991. A few years later, in 1995, Wayne moved from Huntington Beach to Grants Pass, Oregon with his youngest daughter, Andrea.

Eventually, Wayne decided to continue his education and attended Southern Oregon University and graduated in December 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science. In September 2006, Wayne met the other love of his life, Virginia (Ginny) Beyerle, and these past seven years they have been inseparable partners in life and joy. Wayne and Ginny had an incredible love of laughter and shared this with their many friends and family. He passed in his sleep on May 4, 2014 and is survived by his four children; Gregory, Kathryn, John and Andrea; his beloved Ginny; his brothers Ronald and Martin; and his 2 grandsons, Matthew and Michael.
He was active in his community throughout the years in California and Oregon and took an active role in his church, The Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America, HAM radio groups, JoMacs, and Rascals. He was dedicated to tutoring customers on their Mac computer systems and spent many hours each week with his extended Mac family at Valley Software. He loved to give back to others and found a way to combine his love of technology with service to others. He built or refurbished computers to give to elderly locals and taught them how to use it to connect with their children and grandchildren, giving them a gift of communication and bringing families closer together. He brought a love of life to his endeavors, a smile to the occasion, and a new perspective to every challenge.

He will be missed by many.
