Waymon Eugene Ivy

Waymon Eugene “Gene” Ivy, 71, of Grants Pass, died Monday, January 15, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

No services are planned. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

He was born October 18, 1935 in Monterey Park California. After graduating from I.V.H.S. in 1954, he joined the US Air Force and moved to Alaska. Gene served in the US Air Force for 10 years and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was also honorably discharged from the United States Army National Guard after serving one term. On December 28, 1976 he married Beverly Ann Johnson in Grants Pass. While living in Cave Junction, he worked for the US Forest Services during the 60’s and retired as Crew Boss in the mid 1970’s. He has lived in the Rogue Valley since 1950, moving from California.

His hobbies included leather working, wood-work, pottery, fishing, hunting, camping, and outdoor activities.

He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ivy of Grants Pass, Kelly Ivy of Cave Junction and Rhonda Troutt of Grants Pass; two sons, Michael Ivy of Everett, Washington and Roy Ivy of Salem; three step-daughters, Karen Hampton of Portland, Joyce Bryant of Medford, and Joanna Hampton of Grass Valley California; two step-sons, Marvin Hampton of Eugene and Ben Hampton of Grants Pass; 25 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
